Unlawful Promotion: Zoloft Lawsuit

Did you know that you can purchase Zoloft, on line, and no prescription needed? On May 2004 the Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company pleaded guilty in Federal Court to criminal fraud charges for the unlawful promotion and marketing of Neurontin by it's predecessor, Warner Lambert. Pfizer agreed to pay $430 million in settlement. Do you get the feeling that there are few, perhaps no, honest drug manufacturers? Or maybe it's an industry primarily based on greed. People are ready to consume almost any drug to relieve – what? When the TV set explodes every 15 minutes shouting the attributes of a new drug - “ask your doctor for” - it and find out for yourself – when you know the uncountable numbers of drug addicts just looking for a new one – what can we expect. This is nothing less than pushing drugs and by the every manufacturer. Might it not be wise to prohibit the advertising of drugs on TV? Or should only physicians have the “considered and studied” right to prescribe such medications? When does the end of the availability of drugs begin? And where? Depression in today's society is understandable with all that the population has to survive. This total anxiety is the replacement of the tranquil days prior to WWI and WW II when life was serene, though work and earning a living was physical – not mental - not leisurely – not when a machine composed of chips removes the absolute need to rely on our brain power alone. Not when children are raised in an era where everything new and exciting is available and Mom and Dad make sure their lives are as free of want as is humanly possible. For the have-nots, and there are many, there is depression, and there is full availability to the drugs supposedly to relieve the panic. The basis for it all is greed, and perhaps, for such deep greed , Zoloft is one drug among others to suppress it.
