Celebrex Lawsuits
Celebrex is supposed to be “the” painkiller for arthritis, but there are
those who have discovered that instead it causes hypertension and strokes.
This drug is one to be selected to hold court individually, and not be mixed
in as a thousand claimants in a class action suit.
The first lawsuit is one of the individual lawsuits filed by a stroke
survivor against the giant pharmaceutical manufacturer Pfizer. It goes to
trial this year. The plaintiff is a 53 year old woman who suffered a stroke
in 2005 using Celebrex.
A plaintiff could literally be dead by the time attorneys get such cases
into the courts. Her attorney claims that “as far as I know this will be the
first Celebrex case tried in this country.”
The woman has already suffered the expense and costs for medical and
hospital and related care but it is apparently a secret as to what the
specific damages will be sought, but the lawyer did say, “we're going to ask
a lot!”
Drug makers had better be saving heavy bucks because they've yet to begin
lawsuits on Bextra, made by Pfizer, and Vioxx made by Merck because whatever
award is made in the first ever court case for a harmful drug will be a
number where every other judge on any other case will use as a basis in
their own decisions.
Not to worry, my friends, none of these pharmaceutical manufacturers are
hurting. Their bank accounts have been well stuffed and ready for a “bring 'em
on” case. The problem is, however, that every other citizen on medications
for their afflictions are paying exorbitant prices to cover such lawsuits
for all of these poisonous concoctions turned out and approved by the FDA –
too quickly, too soon.
The attorney in this first Celebrex case has filed 150 cases against Pfizer
and most of them are in the federal court in California.
